It's catchy, the lyrics are fantastic with Tilian's chorus and Jon's crazy lines about cats, the whole band singing gang vocals together, Will rapping and shredding the guitar everything comes together on this track to make for a phenomenal display of skill and experience from every member in the group. If it was for how hard Man Of The Year hits me emotionally, this song would be number 1 for how stellar it is just to listen to. oh baby, is this song actually so impressive once you take it in. In fact, I overlooked this song on the Mothership album a few times it wasn't until I saw the fans' praise for this track, calling it possibly the best of the band and it encompasses everything they stand for and play. I had it all in the palm of my hand, too late to start it over again, I had it all in the palm of my hand, ran out of time and now it's over, again!"Īnother song that most fans wouldn't be able to fully appreciate if it was their first song, without context from the rest of the band's works. Not about to justify, don't sympathize with my meltdown.
Tilian's harsh & quick raspy vocals tear through the song, Jon's crazy low near the end, the breakdown at the end leading into a sad finale this is DGD showing a different and refreshing side that worked so well. It's not like other songs you'd find from the band, thus I wouldn't recommend you start with it, but it's very powerful once you've listened to more of the band to appreciate everything they do here. Both of the current lead singers' favorite song they've created, as well as my own personal favorite, Man of the Year is emotional intensity.
